Moody Gardens, Galveston Island and a Sunday Ride

Saturday we headed to Galveston and spent the afternoon at The Moody Gardens Rain Forest Exhibit.  After that we headed to the Gulf and romped around in the warm water for a couple hours.   Galveston proved to be very crowded - Jeeps galore, Motorcycles of every brand and low riders decked to the hilt. The college kids our for the summer filled the bars and family's filled the beaches.  Today (Sunday) we loaded up Ethel (1966 T-Bird w/ 428 EF and original rust and hay) and Belle (1989 Mercedes 560 SL) and took a ride around Magnolia, Tx with a stop at the local Sonic for shakes on this beautiful 90 Degree Texas day.

2012 National Train Day

For those non-foamers (Foamer = someone who foams at the mouth when they see a train) Saturday May 12th was National Train Day, so we loaded up the truck and headed southwest of Houston to the Rosenberg Railroad Museum.

The station had a great view                                   We had a great tour of the tower

Last Bear Branch Golf Tournament

Well, the last of the golf tournaments for eighth grade completed yesterday.  Another great outing with the weather 90 degrees and 78% humidity.  Several great shots and shes hooked!  Looks like we have another golfer in the house ... ok, one golfer and one fat dad with a bad back (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Full Moon and Houston Train Chasing

Had a great view of the "Super Moon" last night ... need to figure out the camera a little for some better pictures.  Also had to hit the office this morning, so did a little train chasing up the UPRR "race track" along the Hardy Toll Road on the way home.
